Progress on Time Passages: Shadow's Acre and Knightmares

A good -- if at moments, sluggish -- night of writing my third novel. At times, the action and dialogue seem to breeze along...at others, I feel like a mastodon in a tar pit. It *is* coming together, however, and as with my previous books, the feeling of disjointedness and disorganization that is always inherent to a first draft of any longer work gets blasted away in the clarity and focus of the editing process. I desperately want to get to that stage -- but there's still so much more story to tell. So I'll be living for a while longer with the characters who populate this version of southern Vermont in 1972. It's not such a bad place to be, truth told.
I am also beginning to think that I may be able to offer a second collection of short stories along with publication of the new novel -- if not in direct tandem, then in close proximity timewise. The tentative title is Knightmares, with more stories than were present in Tales from Dark 7. No spoilers here, folks, but it will feature short fiction previously published elsewhere (though uncollected), in addition to brand new boogaloo I've managed to spin out of the word gin in between the longer projects of novel writing. I'm looking forward to putting that together as sort of a bonus addendum to the main job, so I hope you have your reading caps on. I expect it'll be a wild ride for downtimes after sunset.
That's all for now. Please check out the rest of this site, sign up for my e-mail list, Twitter feed, Like my Facebook page, and for Pete's sake *buy some books.* I promise you won't be sorry...until it's time to turn out the light and try sleeping, that is...
My Very Best,
Alex
